Girl Power!

We at Gail Kenny Group firmly feel that headhunters have a role to play in helping women break through glass ceiling.

Recent reports in the Financial Times say the chairmen of Centrica, Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC Holdings, J Sainsbury, Aviva and the UK units of KPMG International and Deloitte & Touche are backing an initiative aimed at raising the proportion of women on boards to 30% in the next five years. In response, Gail said “It’s not just the board; there is still the element of the old boys’ network, based on who the male directors know, where appointments are made behind closed doors. It is also up to the headhunters to educate and encourage diversity when compiling shortlists.”
“It’s a great initiative but it might take longer than that, more like a decade I would assume. Most senior women have moved past the era when small children required a heavy time commitment. Many have well-organised childcare in place and some have decided not to have children. In other words, their full commitment to their work should not be in doubt. There are a lot of talented senior women in the pipeline.”

Usain Bolt Recruitment

No we are not recruiting for world class sprinters, but its generally noticeable how many of our clients are looking to complete the recruitment process in such a short period of time. CV’s are often required within days of receiving the brief, and sometimes candidates with long notice periods are viewed unfavourably. It is however good that many clients are so keen to get new talent in through their doors, and it helps that in many cases we understand our market well enough to know who to pick the phone up to immediately. We prefer to advise clients to have the patience to wait for the best candidates, but are happy to work at the necessary pace to make this happen at record speed.

Beat the Rush!

Christmas is almost upon us and you’re probably busy shopping, filling stockings, catching up with old friends and attending parties and lunches. You probably haven’t thought about changing jobs or if you have, you thought you would leave it to the New Year. Many of our clients are still busy recruiting for the year ahead, interviewing up until Christmas Eve in some cases. Apparently December 14 is when the whole process of slowing down for Christmas begins, but not in recruitment! We are inundated with roles at the moment, so avoid the January rush and send your CV over to us today.
